In last week's blog post we discussed how nonprofit organizations can utilize social media to interact with donors, volunteers, and potential donors. This week we'd like to share some more tips and strategies that you can implement and utilize as soon as you read this article. In the first installment we stayed pretty high level as far as being interactive, sharing, etc. with your social media presence while this week we will get more in depth on the platforms to use and how social media could and should fit into your communication plan.

Identify the role of social media in your communication plans

What role with social media play in your communication plan? How do you currently interact with your community? Is it mainly through phone, email, and face to face meetings? Maybe you just need to try to implement other meeting platforms to help improve your meeting attendance and social media wouldn't add much to your organization. Chances are though, social media could and should be a big part of your communication strategy considering how many people have access 24/7 to their smart phone which houses their social media applications.
