Hosting your Halloween Party

For many of you that will be hosting parties in Cleveland this Halloween it will be both a fun and hectic time, but during this running around and planning time don't forget to take into account some of the risk involved with your personal liability exposure. Halloween parties are great and a wonderful opportunity to connect with friends and family in the beautiful autumn season, and sometimes even have a little fun dressing up. When it comes to personal liability many people think about guests falling down stairs or even tripping on objects left out in the driveway or in front of the house, but many people fail to recognize the number one underlying factor that can account for liability claims which is alcohol. If you choose to serve alcohol at your Halloween party, be sure to follow some of our tips to help make your party as safe an environment as possible.

Halloween Party Safety Tips

Everyone likes to have a good time at a party and sometimes that does involve alcohol consumption, but you need to make sure that everyone at your party in Cleveland is safe and responsible. Most of the statistics show that over half of all highway fatalities on Halloween night involve a driver that has a blood alcohol content level percentage higher than the legal limit. One of the first things that you should consider doing is encouraging all of your friends and family to wear their seatbelts both to and from your party. No matter what, wearing your seatbelt definitely improves their chances of survival if they would get into an accident.

Before your guests leave your party, be sure to have a quick conversation with them just to check and see how they are doing. If they seem intoxicated offer to pay for a cab or taxi, or even better, offer your own free taxi service with some designated driver friends that can attend your party. Make sure that you are offering food at your party along with alcohol, and also try to stop serving any alcohol an hour or so prior to the end of your party. Another thing to consider if you are going to be allowing guests to bring friends that you don't necessarily know, is carding people at the door to ensure that no minors drink alcohol at your party.

Even though it may be popular to serve alcohol at a Cleveland Halloween festivity, you could consider have a non-alcoholic party or just make non-alcoholic drinks available to your guests. You can even strategically stop serving alcohol at a certain point and start serving pop, coffee, cider, or other drinks to maintain a safe environment. Also make sure that you are being responsible yourself, even though you wont be driving home, you will in fact be responsible for all of the guests while they are at your party and even when they are driving home. You may even want to consider having a friend or if you want to get really fancy, hire a professional bartender, to serve drinks at your party. If guests are being served drinks, it won't allow them to mix their own drinks too strong. Putting someone in charge of the drinks overall is a good idea, since you will likely be mingling with family and friends at the party. Although it is your responsibility, it doesn't hurt to delegate some tasks to other close friends to make sure that your party is fun and safe.
